Description
The PT fast attack boat seemed to have an almost glamorous reputation. No stodgy lumbering warship, definitely not even the somewhat nimble destroyer could counter the image and concept of a lightning attack vessel with the hull of a racing boat and lean minimalist lines of a pleasure speedboat. It was designed to attack swiftly, lay down its torpedoes, and depart as quickly. The PT boat fleet of the US Navy was nicknamed the "mosquito fleet", probably because it was an irritant to enemy destroyers and shipping that encountered it. The Japanese called them "devil boats". Because of its small size, only around 80 feet in length, the craft was difficult to spot and train fire on especially in the night attacks that made up its attack plan. Ironically, enemy fighters, especially Japanese float planes could easily spot them at night due to their phosphorescent wake.
Though it served mostly in the Pacific theater, the craft was also used in the Mediterranean. The PT boat gained some extended fame during the presidential campaign of John F. Kennedy who served as commander of PT-109 in the Pacific theater during the war.
In a pretty amazing statistic, it is estimated by some that only 99 were lost out of the 531 in service. Considering their duties, that is pretty impressive.
I decided to try this preliminary render of a PT Boat primarily to try out Tryphon's amazing US Navy gear that he generously shared. I have a couple of others in mind, but I never know where they will go.
PT-242: Available on Rendo by BeyondVR, now an RPublishing offering with some modified additional textures by myself.
Crew: DoMus free character ,and Tryphon's US Navy gear and uniforms. Thank you for letting me send these out to sea, Luis!

Your pulling our leg right..its a photograph! Great looking render Bill and their right, great job on the water, the wake and the figures. It reminds me of one of my earliest memories with my dad. He use to take me to Atlantic City and carry me on his shoulders on the Boardwalk. They use to run reworked PT boats as rides along the surf up and down parallel with the beach... I can still see them now...boy where they fast. Lets see, this was before the hotel fire in 1952, so I would have been 5. Must have made quite an impression, I can still see them.

Awesome work on this !

Very well done. They were fine on calm seas - in any kind of sea state, look out! The crew got pounded to death.
