Description

!!!IMAGINATION REQUIRED: Squint and pretend the Dixie roadster is a 1918, black Ford Model T truck. In 1922 my great-grandfather lost an eye to a strand of barbed wire he was stringing, putting an end to his ability to drive. My Grandmother Gladys always figured she could do anything she put her mind to, so at the age of 11, she took over driving her family’s 1918 Ford Model T truck. She wasn’t big enough to see out the windshield AND reach the pedals, so she enlisted her 8-year-old brother Bob to help. She would steer and shift gears while he sat in the floor and taking directions on what pedal to push. “We need to go faster so give it more gas, Bob.” Or ”I have to downshift into second so press on the clutch and tap the brake.” In this way they managed to get their Mother to town each week to trade farm produce for dry goods without mishap until Gladys was big enough to drive solo. After riding with her many times when I was a child, I’m not sure the world wasn’t safer when she had Bob as a co-pilot. K4, Jai hair are from DAZ. Freebies: Overalls - Kemp Sparky Sunplay top, TC 30 shirt - Sanbie Bossy boots - Headkase 2 Lane Roadway - McGyver Dixie roadster was at Sharecg but not any longer and I can't find a readme for it.

And to think that today a child gets a ticket if he/she doesn't wear a helmet riding a bicycle. The world has become a bubble wrapped safety zone, and a woman can sue a store for tripping over her own toddler--and win. I miss the days when radio shack is where you took your t.v. vacuum tubes and plugged them into a machine to find out which one was burned out, and every kid had lawn darts.

Too wonderful. I love your family stories and the illustration is marvelous. I'm with Wolf on this. We all survived no seat belts, except for or Mother's laps and arms. I could go on about the policies that seem to need to save us from our selves.

Great design and thought! Seeing this I remember old times where children had a big bike and wooden pieces on the pedals so they could reach them. This image has so much humor inside, that you imagine the view yourself! .
