Description

So, my sweet little otter is not without defense. As you can see, she has some rather impressive teeth. Otters have heads very much like a pitbull dog. Since they have to grab and hold fish, they are equipped with the necessary muscle and teeth to do the job. I, for one, have no idea why anyone would be stupid enough to not respect these teeth! She does hate the camera. When ever she sees it, the growling starts. I am not sure if I will get any really good shots of her. She seems inclined to want to kill the camera. She is not aggressive toward me, but I always respect wildlife for what they are.

Aw, so you have an otter, too! My! I didn't know they were in your area. One learns something new every day! And, yes, they have teeth. Anyone foolish enough to try to pet a wild otter will find that out to their pain and horror. However, I have heard that they can be domesticated and quite affectionate towards human "owners" (Sigh. Any better word than "owners"? Owners feels bad when it comes to animals. Who owns whom?). I see she's chewing on fish - a good way to distract her enough so you can get photos. Again, the camera lens looks like a big eye, which must be rather frightening for an animal. However, my ratties and Kitty aren't afraid of my camera, but that may be due to it being a small pocket camera with small lens, AND that they have been exposed to my photographing them with flash from a very young age. Maybe something you can try out? Thanks for posting this. It really turned out well! Keep up the good work! :-)

Wonderful capture of Whiskers. add to their abilities is the fact that they are lithe and limber and can literally turn back on you - I think I'd rather tangle with a pitbull - much safer
