Opposing visions of historic times …
Spain’s Isabella’s greed to gild an Empire that
Would stand forever and a man from Genoa
We call Columbus who dreamt of immortality
By finding humbler ways to the unknown.
He died in chains. She lives in speechless stone.
Today who celebrates the fact that she was?
So many nations grand crusades and wars
To guarantee eternity … all gone.
The millions slain by tyrants cursed by time.
And false assumptions gods applaud our cries
To slaughter in their names … a paradox!
The deities who spoke for “LOVE” survive.

Yes I agree! YUP!! Hey Deek and since I no longer work, I never know when there is a holiday that we all DO celebrate. Sometimes I wonder why we do, in this case especially! Great for some folks you know. Maybe they get a day to do some kind of enjoyment. I hope so.
