Description

Faemike asked me yesterday what had happened to my photos of the dogs at work. Well, Nightingales suddenly shut as the owner is only interested in money and not people. See a fairly accurate report of this Here I arrived an hour after the staff had been told that they were all redundant and that all the patients had to be out within 24 hours. Bill, being funded by the local authority and having dementia, could not be found a space in Bournemouth or Poole and was moved to Surrey, a 2 hour drive from his daughter.

All that business is heart wrenching so much for the owner respecting their elders for the almighty profit... I would so not want to be them standing in the final judgement line. My prayers are for the beautiful seniors at the home that your dogs visits so blessed.

I just finished the article that you had the link for. to see residents and staff treated in sun a manner is shameful and disgusting. a very beautiful and touching photo. thanks for your response

I can understand having to close, but the way it was handled seems pretty cold and very poorly done. To move people with no notice ... shocking! Will you find another place to work with the dogs? You and the furries make such a valuable contribution. I hope there will be other opportunities for them to continue their (and your) good work!

A super shot and Fritz obviously loves the work and what a shame to be closed down like that.

Very nice pic. of Fritz and Bill. Just read the news clip--Shocking to say the least, very poorly handled and the uppers are not willing to comment on the confusion they created. Not sure how they can justify that !

A lovely pic of Bill & Fritz. I see one of the directors is safely out of the pic. Hate what they are doing.

Oh man, I've heard that story before and it's horrible. Their kharma will catch up with them and it won't be pretty. Till then, though Bill and his mates have a lot of adjusting to do. Wonderful shot of Bill and Fritz; they both look quite content.

Another charming capture under rather sad circumstances, it's just so wrong when owners do this kind of thing, messing with elderly peoples lives when they are in bad health and getting on in years is disrespectful and highly selfish... it only proves the money only matters from beginning to end, yes it's a business but it's also peoples lives that afford the owner that business and how they do things is all important and this certainly is not the way to go about it!. I feel for those people at the home and their families who put their trust in the hands of such establishments and so often find they are wanting for proper care till the end of their lives. It's the climate we are under thanks to the way the country is being run... this is one example of the fallout from such attitudes of money over humanity. I wish them all well and hope they are able to find the placements required and the establishments have better owners than this place, lord knows the men and women deserve some respect and peace in the twilight of their years.

Fritz looks so relaxed and Bill looks the same. GREED is destroying America and it looks like it is spreading all over the world!

Superb capture Andrea. Very sad to read the online article Andrea. I agree this was handled the wrong way. God bless.

It's always terrible when these places close down because of profit margins and such. It's worse in the US, because we don't even have universal health care. (Our version is a pale compromise, because of the huge power of the Right.) And, that Bill should be moved so far from his family...I guess it hits even England and other European countries, who we'd like to be more like. (We're way behind, Andrea.) But your documentation of your dogs bringing love to these people has been one of the highlights of your gallery. I've loved every shot, and saved the URLs to share with others. This shot is wonderful, with Bill looking down in relaxed contentment, and Fritz resting and looking at you with what looks like ease. Big eyes, a relaxed pose. (Did he stay in this position? Or did he move around...) A loving portrait, capturing beautiful features in both man and dog. Great series. Real heart, Andrea.
