Very beautiful flowers...this is the whitish white I like to see in photos. I think this photo was taken under a direct light source (sun, probably). It gave a nice white tone but the yellow counterpart is weak. You can take the same picture in shadow but with a sufficient lighting, you'll see the difference...

Thank you surgeon! I've been playing with flash, without flash, using my body to cast shadows or not :) to see what some of the different outcomes are. In this case you are right. The light was direct sun. Your comment is very helpful as my eye is only learning to be discerning with the reason behind why something does or doesn't look quite right.
