Description

Captured 4/27/14, at the beautiful Renaissance Faire, held at the beautiful Santa Fe Dam Recreation Area, in semi beautiful Irwindale, California. Considering all of the gaiety, games, musical performances, parades and various cast of bizarre and unique characters I encountered at the Faire, I was somewhat taken aback when I came across this relatively quiet scene of ladies and a gentleman, sitting at the dinner table in prayer, with a handsome well dressed nobleman standing behind them, delivering what turned out to be a lengthy invocation. Most impressive via ZOOM. jocko500 should like this. Cheers.

Wonderful series of shots, Harry; once again I'm impressed by the detailed costumes, and how very in-character everyone seems. Looks like a great dinner about to be eaten!

Well quite.. I notice, there is a very 'Spanish' feel to allot of these costumes good though they look.. I guess that's because you are near to Mexico as such.. Here there is no need.. Its like here! Medieval is from here lol Nice shots, more mate Rob

First, just an aside: Coming from a Jewish family, we didn't say 'grace'. We said 'beruchas'; and it wasn't as solemn as this, because my dad---like rabbis and cantors---would shoot off the hebrew at the speed of light, swaying back and forth. Then we'd join in with the "ohh-MAYN!" ((amen)).) But when I went to my Christian friends' homes, they said grace. And the kids always had the same joke: "Billy, you wanna say grace"? And he'd yell "GRACE!", and sit down and eat. Some parents laughed, some nearly threw food at the kids; but I can't get that crazy little kid-joke out of my head every time I see people saying grace. I just keep my mouth shut, to avoid being tasteless... The montage: Two shots facing one angle, then two facing the other (good sequence); and such detail, foreground and background. A scintillating collection of visual detail: The lineup of costumes, the headwear, the orators highly decorated vest (using, I assume, royal decorative motifs...later paisleys were influenced by these, to a degree ((in addition to persian and indian influence))). That big mural behind them---or screen---which we get to view from two different angles---a very nice feature to this set. And the guy in back. And a final shot where they seemed to break the prayer and start smiling, which is a fine ending to the sequence. A wonderful scene in 4 parts. Yes, a more sedate shot than most of the shots from this series; but it's very rich and full. (And I'd give anything to see them remove the towels, and, boom, it's Taco Bell.) Very rich collection, Harry.
