Description

When one goes out hunting, you try to keep the food load light yet nutritious. the military has contracted with some great companies who have changed the idea of what to eat on the field. these MREs (Meals Ready to Eat) are a prime example of the contractors listening to the military. in doing so, they have come out with a very high-quality menu that, in my opinion, rivals some restaurants and meals you find in the stores. the other great option is that they use flameless heating system to cool the meals - Those heaters consist of a chemical in a pouch that produces heat when it is exposed to water. To use the heater, you add water to the pouch and then insert the sealed MRE and your food cooks with the heat produced by the chemical reaction in about ten minutes. the rock is an option to keep the system contained. these meals are top quality in taste and I will not hesitate to use them again or recommend them to my friends. and yes! I've had the old C-rats so I speak with some experience. the other great thing is that the meals weigh very little for the calorie content.

A most interesting bit of info, Mike! I've not tried MREs, but this makes me want to pick up a couple next time I have a chance. Very cool shot of your field 'kitchen!' Bon Appetite!

This looks like a better alternative to roots and berries or squirrel.

Even the packaging looks better than those cardboard boxes sealed with wax. We even had a 4 pack of cigarettes in our MREs. Lucky Strikes with a green circle instead of red!
