Description

Nobody was quite sure where she came from; there was much speculation though. She never seemed to appear any time other than late October, and always if there was a heavy fog and full moon. There was no known formal name she was known as, they just always referred to her as "The Witch." It was evident when she was on her way though. As the evening would begin to set in there would be violent lightning without thunder, then the lights would flicker and eventually fail. Shortly after this started other electrical devices would start to fail as well, until nothing worked but a couple random street lamps which would erratically flicker on and off as though they were signaling her path. Yet, while everyone feared her coming, bad things only happened to bad people in town; and often there would later be some reports of towns people with illnesses being healed, or those suffering from misfortune having a significant change of circumstances. Despite the history of her visits she was still regarded as The Witch and feared. As to her appearance, nobody could say with absolute assurance, as most everyone ran to hide with the first evidence of her coming. Though the few who did manage to peek from windows insisted she looked beautiful, youthful, and very elegant. All agreed that she was dressed in black, had long flowing black hair, and as any of them who had opportunity to see her close enough and near one of those flickering lights would attest; she had almost mesmerizing steel blue eyes. It's that time of year again. It's the end of October, and a heavy fog and predicted. Inevitably she will be venturing into town. Have you been naughty, or have you been nice? Nobody knows if she has a list, or checks it twice. It's not known whether or not she knows if you're sleeping or awake; but what is for certain, if you're deserving there might be a change in your fate. Be careful, and in the evening stay close to home, for The Witch might be on the prowl. Hope you enjoyed a little seasonal tale and render. I also hope all have had a good weekend and are well rested for another week of the grind. Thanks for viewing and commenting. Goodnight to all!

What a beauty! Definitely my kind of sorceress. She can entice and vamp me anytime. Furthermore, since I've been very nice, and considering my various ailments, I could sure use many of her healing powers. Plus I hope that this is not one of the several entities that a very ugly witch can shape-shift into. A great bit of rendering on this one, and a very Happy Halloween to you!

Thanks Harry! Happy Halloween to you too! Thanks for noticing the backdrop. While I used a plain black background, I layered fog props as two different sizes and locations to get this effect. I also had several different lights, including a spotlight with a nice blood red hue to create the subtle red outline to the pavement and curb. The idea, not at first, was to mute the background some not to take away from the character.
