Description
This garden has history dating back to Romans, with St Pancreas Old Church (seen on the left) being considered as one of the oldest sites of Christian worship in Europe. Over the years this place including the church, has undergone renovation and burial relocations but there are still significant features which include a number of tombs and gravestones. These include some prominent figures such as Sir John Soane and his wife whose tomb has inspired the design of the red telephone box, and the son of J.S Bach. However, dominating this garden is the Burdett-Coutts memorial sundial (right of church), which reminds me of a mini version of the Albert Memorial in Kensington Gardens. During the Victorian period she was one of the wealthiest women in London and was known for her charity and sought to get rid of London's slums.
This place is close to Euston and St Pancreas Station and also the British Library, so if you got a spare few minutes in the area this place is worth a look!
Many thanks for viewing!!!
