Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper!
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

I'd love to have one of these on my wall. This is 100% Andrea. I can see some of the original in it, but you've transformed it into this abstract cross section of cellular life, or of the life of a tide pool, or the life of inner energies (this could be the colliding energies inside mitochondria or something like that), or a painting of the energies of the cosmos. There's Abstract Expressionism in it. A bit of Pollock (or gargantuan "drip" painting). And almost a pop feel--the big red-whitse "bolt," down the center, almost feels like those "BAM" and "POW" moments in the cartoon-like pop art of the 80s. A lot of things can be compared to it, but it's just plain you, and not only energetic for the hues and their contrasts, but for the textures within the hues, and how they vary. You (typically) even have a colony of little black dots (left side), which seems amplified in a blue section at the top---we don't get to see it spread out, but it sure begins to. And Organic structures everywhere...Bold, colliding, energetic, squooshy, lightning-like, and lifelike. You and Helle, when you paint (or draw), just turn out all this vivid world of energy. Beautiful piece, Andrea. I'll take 10.
