Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper!
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

Oh Ralphie you are a spoilt boy. I love to see the dogs cosy, feel for those less fortunate!!!!

The choices they make are ineffable! As long as Ralph is happy, I suppose he can decide anything he likes. :)

An enviable position. Lovely shot!

He just wants a 'rooooooof....rooooooof' over his head!

A sweet 'awww' shot. No way we can figure out what they are thinking, we just love them and Ralph looks very loved and content. :)

Such a sweet face; maybe he likes to listen for foxes downstairs? Or keep an eye on the door? Dogs are funny sometimes about sleeping spots!

Ralph is a smart dog, good to see him getting his head down for a sleep. Sadly we are not far away from 5th November, so downstairs might be the best choice, dogs can get a little anxious over these firework nights, usually those aerial bombs that sometimes even catch me out!. Amazing how we still celebrate the earliest terrorists... but then again had they succeeded we might all be clapping these days!. :-)

WOW! I can still see the scares from his fight with the fox! AS long as he is happy, he should be able to sleep where ever he wants!

My childhood dog, Pepi, slept in certain places too. And then he chose another. He had his reasons, and threatened to put them in a book (which he never finished). I get the whole phenomenon...Great shot of Ralph, and that houndstooth blanket, with his half shut eyes. I love this series as you know, and this one shows him sooooooooo relaxed. I always think, "so THIS is what rest is supposed to look like," whenever I see pics like this. Delightful. (And there's a lot going on in his nose! I didn't know there was so much. It's like a watercolor painting---there are WASHES on that thing!) Wonderful shot.
