Description
A British Airways Ju-52?....yes!, but then again no! This is actually a Spanish built Cassa 352L T2B, built in 1954 and flown by the Spanish Air Force until 1976. Withdrawn from service, it was purchased at auction by the RAF Museum. It is displayed in the livery of British Airways, to represent one of three Ju-52's purchased in 1938. The particular aircraft represented, G-AFAP, was captured by the Germans in 1940, no record of it's ultimate fate remains. Post war, British Airways received several Ju-52's by way of compensation and operated them for several years...
Day 13 of my enforced 'overtime', just got to get through tonight and tomorrow night, then 2 days off. Just about over the bug that's had me feeling really 'grotty' but now I seem to be coming down with a cold....joy!! On a positive note....I couldn't sleep the other night so I dragged my Hurricane into the restoration hanger. I was going to give it a bit of a make-over but ended up building a whole new aircraft from scratch. Once Stan's finished in the paintshop I'll post something....

So they didn't just produce HE111 and BF109's then. Another one of my favourites, i'd love to take a trip in a real Ju52. Good to hear your on the mend mate and i'll be interested to see the end project.

Intriguing on BOTH counts mate - something else I never knew, so thanks for that! As for the other thing - intriguing as always!

Cool! And the contraption in the foreground - a "Pou de Ciel" or "Flying Flea" I believe? Shuttleworth has a flying one I think. Hope you've more of that one too!

Glad to hear you're recovering, Neil! Thanks for the post. I'm not the least surprised about the ownership. I've seen the Ju52 in SwissAir livery, Lufthansa livery and other airlines at the time. As war approached, production for export was curtailed and war time planes were manufactured instead. Interesting to see this livery. I'm not sure about any post war production for export, though. Keep your chin up. Hoping you have a continued swift recovery. :-)

Great shot mate, nice to see it in its full gory lol You don't often hear of German aircraft flying in British marking during the war (the Ju86 also did).. The Shuttleworths Flea I believe has crashed, sadly killing its pilot (?) PC issues here mate.. Surprise, slow as hell!! But have been down to London (Motorhead, Science Museum and nipped in the now VERY interactive Natural History Museum!) So pic's on the way Rob

Great panorama shot of the Junkers, interesting to think that snaffling a Ju52 or two was war reparation... !!!?
