Description
Another one taken on a walk through Jacksonville yesterday. I admired the craftsmanship of this door - this isn't the kind of thing you can go down to a big box hardware store & buy off the shelf. And I thought the light & autumn colors added to the charm of it...

It is a beautiful door, and the lighting and location of that tree right next to it add to the magical flavour. Beautiful find and excellent shot!

Well my last comment took me 30 minutes, lol---you can see why I'm slow. And I'll have to stop after this one. (But I'll be back either tonight or in the morning.) Another "Claude" shot, burning and peaceful and luscious. It's always great to see your architectural and interior shots. Yes, this is a style of artisanship that's harder and harder to find today; and with the cost of materials and labor, it's really expensive too (which I'm sure you know). But it's so beautiful. And the aging of the wood, its stains, its weathering, and maybe its being treated to bring out its glorious imperfections---I know that's in the door, but I feel your presence all over it, you made us see what's in the door, you made the offering of it. These qualities make this both a door and an invitation, wonderfully intimate for a wall-door. I love the right-side tree, how it leans into the shot and seems to crowd the door...but the door talks back with full authority: They're equals, old companions. And the beautiful orange reds in the bottom, the orange underglow in the bark, and that shout of yellow on top: Not many photographers could get all this and not make it look a bit crazed. But here, it's a blast of intimate autumnal joy, natural and singing. And everything's brought down to a chamber-feel because of the crop, your light and dark, your hues, and that overhanging tree which "protects" it all somehow. A beautiful shot Claude, and another example of your very personal way with architecture. Autumn to the fullest. Beautiful.

What a delightful insert - it changes the door completely.
