Description

Antiope's Shim'Tar, Kleio, led the warriors in the attack and in a short time, they had taken over the main docks and the territory on that side of the wall. The wall was there as a sea wall and as an extra defense for the main city in case the docks were taken. Now it created a wall to aid in Antiope's defenses. A strategic plan had already been outlined and defenses were being set as the majority of the warriors prepared to march on the city. Two hundred were left to maintain the wall and defend the gate. Another fifty were divided into squads to patrol and root out any hidden Themyscirans while another twenty five were set up as jailers. Three of the ships were already set up as jails and one of the mainland buildings was being retrofitted for additional prisoners as well. War machines and devices were offloaded from the ships and assembled on the ground. Special guns were setup along the wall that shot “Greek Fire” and oversized crossbows that launched explosive missiles. The Lost Tribe had managed to accumulate a small stockpile of modern weapons over the last couple of decades. They included rocket and grenade launchers, a few machine guns and some ground launched mortars. On top of that, they made some custom missiles to fit their scorpions, (giant crossbows) that exploded when impacting a target. Only ten minutes passed before the weapons were organized and in place. Hand held launchers and machine guns were assigned to personnel while the missiles and other artillery were set up along the top of the wall. By now the Amazons of Themyscira were amassing at the top of the ridge several hundred yards from the harbor gate. A small platoon separated and approached the gate led by General Pherenike. They came in on foot and stopped short of the gate by about forty five meters. Using a bullhorn Pherenike addressed the wall. “Who goes there? Who defies and invades the sovereign nation Themyscira, home of the Amazons?” Antiope and her guards came out from the gate, allowing it to be wide open. “This is not an invasion, but a reunion. Themyscira's Lost Tribe, the Bana Mighdall, have returned home to claim their place among their sisters.” Her voice, seemingly magically amplified, was loud and clear and carried to all who watched. “Sisters do not lay siege, bear arms and take hostages. That is the act of invaders.” Pherenike responded. “Consider it insurance. We seek an audience with the Queen, my sister. I want to discuss the integration of all of us back into Amazon society.” “You were banished for your crimes twenty eight hundred years ago and have continued to harass and fight with the honorable Themyscirans. Why should we believe you now?” “I will not discuss this with you Pherenike. Send for my sister.” Antiope responded. “I will not. I speak for the Queen and we do not negotiate with invaders in our homeland.” “This is your last chance Pherenike. Send out my sister or we will attack.” “You are few, we are many, you cannot win.” “You do not know what allies I have. Agree now to send my sister out or a bloody conflict will be on your head.” Pherenike paused, before responding. Some of this was a distraction to get more troops in place, but if a peaceful solution could be had, then she had an obligation to see to it. “Very well. I will send a messenger to ask for the Queen's presence, this will take some time.” With that, Pherenike spoke to one of the women there and she took off at a sprint. “Do not try to deceive me. You use this as a distraction to allow your troops to gain an advantage, do not strike or you will feel the wrath of the righteous!” Antiope shouted. Continued below...

Meanwhile, one of Pherenike's squads was moving in the dark to a flanking position to get near the wall. They did not know that one among them did not belong. They were all expert archers and were led by a “new” sergeant they did not recognize, but who had the right identification. “Okay ladies, we are at the site. Form your positions and arm your bows, when ready we attack.” They were in close proximity to the wall and could easily take out the warriors that stood atop walls managing the weapons and armed with bows. “Shouldn't we wait for a signal from Pherenike?” One asked. “Listen soldier!” The sergeant nearly exploded. “You do as commanded. We are to take out this flank, while another squad takes out the other flank. That is the signal for our army to charge the gate. I have been given my orders to follow, now you follow yours!” “Yes ma'am!” “Is that clear for all of you?” the sergeant addressed the squad. “Yes ma'am!” They responded in unison. Then, “Armed and ready ma'am!” The sergeant listened to the exchange between the general and Antiope. It was barely audible from here, except when Antiope spoke loudly, but the sergeant had special abilities and could hear everything quite well. She waited one minute after Antiope had yelled her ultimatum and yelled to her squad, “Fire!” The archers lit the tips of their arrows in a concealed and standing flame and in unison, thirty flaming arrows struck the wall and some of their targets on the wall killing five of the Lost Tribe, immediately. “Re-load! Fire!” More arrows sizzled through the air. “Fire at will!” And the sergeant disappeared in the shadows as mayhem broke out. When far enough away, her form dissolved into the more familiar red haired witch, Circe. She decided to see what Scorn was up to. After Antiope issued her ultimatum, she saw flaming arrows launched at the wall striking the wall and some of her warriors. She was aghast and enraged. “Betrayers! Traitors! Arm the wall weapons! Replace the fallen! Mortars! Fire!” From five positions behind the wall mortars were dropped in to launch tubes and fired into the crowd of Amazons that had assembled on the ridge. It was a ghastly sight. Bodies, blood and limbs flew everywhere. Pherenike was shocked, she did not expect such heavy artillery. Machine guns began firing from the wall and from the ground by the gate. Pherenike retreated out of range. She lost two of her soldiers as bullets bounced off her enhanced armor. Pherenike shouted, “Archers! Fire!” From behind those assembled on the ridge archers launched flaming arrows into the air in a deadly arc to hit the wall and those beyond. Antiope called for the assault. “Warriors! Form positions.!” All the Lost Tribe Amazons filed out of the gate to the harbor and formed diamond shaped assault squads. And then they advanced. Pherenike had her women do the same and others form defensive positions. The archers continued to assault, but so did mortars continue raining down on the ridge and beyond. Archers were being blown to bits along with foot-soldiers. “Cowards!” Pherenike cursed. “Hiding behind weapons of men. Lieutenant!” She shouted to one of her field commanders. “Get the flying cavalry here! Now! Stop those mortars!” And another exploded beyond the ridge. Screams of pain and anguish were heard amongst the noise. Antiope's diamond squads advanced as Pherenike's foot-soldiers advanced. In the middle of those diamond formations were women with grenade and rocket launchers. The other women formed defensive cover. Shields were carried and when the arrows came in, they all squatted and held their shields over their heads in defense. The arrows did not pierce the light and perfectly forged metal of the shields Antiope's warriors carried. The grenades and rockets were launched into the oncoming crowd of Themysciran soldiers, breaking their formations with the destructive weapons. The Lost Tribe warriors moved forward slowly and used their heavy artillery and automatic weapons as much as they could. Their ammunition was limited and it wouldn't be long before they were back to bows, swords, spears and shields. Continued

A few in the foreground are placed and the rest are ecosystem props. The biggest time sucker is creating a variety of poses then importing each figure into Vue to convert them. Not all materials translate from Poser to Vue so well, so I import each figure, make the changes then save as a .vob (vue object). And to keep the realism I like to have several poses. On top of that, I save about 6 .vobs that are paired up figures fighting. When used in an ecosystem, it looks more chaotic and real...I hope! :) Thanks for you comments and I'm glad you enjoy the story too.
