Description
Suddenly from above women riding flying horses swooped in and fired exploding arrows at the mortar launchers on the ground. Two were immediately taken out. This brought the flying horses close to the wall where they were assaulted with Greek Fire and more machine gun fire. Of the twenty present flying cavalry seven went down either in flames or from a barrage of bullets.
Thirty more of the air defense appeared with two soldiers on each horse. They came in low and the secondary soldiers were dropped off on the ground and the wall. With amazing skill and fury, they attacked the gunners and flame throwers. On the ground behind the wall, the rest went for the mortar launchers, but were met with Antiope's ground defenses.
The mortars kept firing and now the missile launchers began firing over the heads of everyone and beyond the ridge. The missiles flew hundreds of meters into the city proper and struck buildings, shops and houses. There were four missile launchers and they each had about fifty shrapnel filled missiles. Things were going to get very bloody.
Pherenike ordered a regroup and partial retreat. Antiope's warriors were fighting up hill. It was not too steep, but it was steep enough to let flaming barrels of oil and black powder get some speed. Pherenike's troops opened up and they launched a barrage of rolling barrels and flaming balls at the squads with artillery and automatic weapons. Right away three of the squads were disrupted as barrels exploded and the flaming balls burst sending sparks of their own Greek Fire all over Antiope's squads that were unfortunate to be in the vicinity.
The missiles and mortars continued while under assault from the air as more horses showed up. The entire air defense was now attacking, all one hundred of them. Some dropped off soldiers behind the wall until all the mortars were destroyed. All had sacrificed their lives to stop the heavy assault of shells. The missiles had taken a very heavy toll on life as more of Pherenike's soldiers moved in to shore up the defenses. In less then twenty minutes, nearly a thousand Themyscirans had died from the deadly missiles and mortars and only a few of Antiope's warriors had fallen. Pherenike was appalled at the destruction and the lack of defense against this kind of assault. She continued to concentrate people and archers at the missile launchers.
Antiope was enraged at another betrayal, but was, at the same time, saddened at having to slaughter former sisters to achieve justice. Antiope's ammunition for the automatic weapons and artillery were nearly spent, but they had just reached the ridge. She was in front and watched Pherenike manage an organized retreat. The barrels had taken out the last of the grenade and rocket launchers and now the mortars stopped. It looked like only half of the air cavalry remained and they concentrated on the missile launchers. The launchers were a main part of Antiope's offense. They fired far and deep and were laying waste to warriors and buildings alike. The Lost Tribe was outnumbered and this was their only chance to even things out. Except for Scorn and her crew. They had plenty of weapons and the mechs alone could have probably taken out all the flying horses by now. Antiope was very concerned and wondered where Scorn was.
She stood atop the ridge looking towards the city, the outskirts ruined and burning. She looked across the defensive gully and watched one of the last missiles fly over head. She followed its course until it struck a building, exploding and illuminating the area. There she saw her sister and Artemis standing atop the columned shrine to Athena surrounded on all sides by Themysciran Amazons awaiting orders for attack. Flames illuminated Hippolyta's face and fires in the background outlined her. Antiope momentarily forgot about Scorn. She yelled, “Black Squad! To me.”

All Antiope's warriors, except those who were to defend the wall were atop the ridge. Across the gully was the city and three thousand more Themysciran troops. All that was left now were bows, swords and spears. The last of the missile launchers was taken out. Antiope's troops did well. They had caused enough destruction to cut off the rest of Themysciran Amazons behind the rubble and burning buildings. Pherenike's army hadn't had enough time to assemble properly. Antiope felt her warriors were well practiced and worth two or three of Hippolyta's Amazons. Ready to press ahead, Antiope notice there was a sudden silence and she felt a cold, so cold it that she thought it might freeze her bones, then as quickly as it came it vanished and the noise of the battlefield returned. Antiope stood atop the ridge with her Shim'tar at her side and raised her sword pointing to her sister atop the shrine. She spoke the the Shim'tar, “Bring me victory Kleio.” Kleio stepped forward and shouted to her warriors. “Archer's fire! Flaming arrows now fell among the native Amazons and their shields were not quite as tough, so more Amazon's fell. “Warriors! Charge!” With that, all of Antiope's army charged ahead, with Pherenike's forces digging in to receive the charge. The two forces met in a loud and ringing crash and a clash of swords and shields erupted. Hippolyta watched from her vantage point and Antiope fought with her Black Squad, striking down all in their way, advancing straight to Hippolyta. But the surviving air cavalry was free to reign death from above. Suddenly something happened. Antiope couldn't believe her eyes. Two of the horses with riders fell from the sky and seemed to be covered in blood, claws and feathers. Harpies! The evil harpies began to fill the air and take on the horse riders. Then she saw approaching from the flank, scores and scores of sword wielding skeletons and voracious blood zombies. And they went straight for the Themysciran warriors. Antiope was elated at this sudden turn of events while the Themyscirans were horrified. “Scorn, what have you done?” She smiled. Antiope's troops fought fiercely. For life and for revenge, and now Hippolyta had joined the fray as well. She dropped warrior after warrior, making her way to Antiope. Before either had gotten halfway to each other a messenger showed up by Antiope's side. She was one of Scorn's women. “Antiope! Antiope! You must come to help Scorn!” “Where is she?! Why hasn't she gotten here?” “She is at Doom's Doorway and need's your help. She's unleashed Hades army to help you, but she needs help against the Batman. More of Hades army can help, but the way has been blocked by Batman and his team.” “Doom's Doorway? That was not in the plan. She's unleashed Hades army?!” “She needs you now Antiope.” “Very well. Black Squad come with me! We go to Doom's Doorway!” Antiope retreated to the rear and instructed her Shim'Tar to press the fight, but if things got out of hand to retreat behind the wall and secure themselves for a siege if necessary. If she can release more of Hades army than they should be able to defeat Hippolyta utterly and completely. She just wondered what would happen to Hades army after that. Would they turn on her? Antiope recruited another squad to go with her to Scorn's position, so she had fifty people in tow. “What are you up to Scorn?” She said to herself. “You're really playing with fire now.” Continued...
