Description
This first year Juvenile Male Yellow-Bellied Sapsucker has none of the brilliant red, black and white of his adult father, but you can see a little bit of pale yellow color on his belly. He still wears his juvenile speckled plumage, as do many woodpecker youngsters. He only has a hint of red on the top of his head that can't be seen very well from this angle. Seen a couple of weeks ago in the yard of a neighbor.
Thanks very much for your views and comments.

I am a huge fan of 'Get Smart' so this is great! Each time Max was ever looking through a telescope or binoculars and was asked what he saw, he would always say 'A Yellow-Bellied Sapsucker'!

Another stellar capture of an avian, laboring intensely for some sap to take home, Maria. You are so fortunate to have such a vast variety of birds to photograph.
