Description

Just an "uh-oh" moment... In my Wednesday upload ("Just a People Shot"), that coffee house is 2 blocks from the original Second City! (As in, where the whole improvisation-thing started.) The restaurant's called "Nookie's," btw, which I love.
I'm commenting piece by piece and I'll get to all of you, I promise! Have a great night! Mark (It's kind of large, I hope you'll zoom)

Caught in the act ! ... LOL ... you are killing me, Mark ;))))) this sort of behaviour is usually reserved for quiet spots on the highway or quiet country roads ;))))) What a great snapshot ! ... until I zoomed in, I asked myself: was she actually entering the car backwards ??? nah, just pushing the sliding door, AHA !!! ... all sorted now ;)) you are spot-on, oh no, let's just leave it that ... :)))) BB

You're like the people's paparazzi - catching ordinary, non-celebrities in the act of being themselves! Although I actually tend to focus more on the peripheral aspects of the scene - in this case, that wonderful old brownstone building with those roughly chiseled blocks & the carved sections of the pillars with their intricate designs...

Mark, first of all let me thank you for providing me with a huge smile tonight. This "uh-oh" moment as you put it made my night and obviously you must have realized how luck you were to get this one the moment you took it. Her expression is priceless as I've zoomed in at least three times so far to get another look and a laugh. On more of a side note I absolutely love the detailed stone work of the building here as well as the wrought iron fencing here that literally dominates the photo. Also thank you for providing some background info on your last upload.

What always catches me in your shots of your city are the little "magical" details that pop up, the swirly or geometric architectural accents bumping up against winding trees or artfully placed leaves...something very lovely and "there" about them, hard to explain but it sucks me in. This has all of that, I'd have shot it without the woman doing whatever she's doing and just focused on the building and tree lines! The arch of the tree, the wrought iron fenceline, and that castle of a building behind...love it!

Priceless! As Denise says, the Architectural and compositional elements are enough to make this a winning shot. Your surprised friend puts some very fun icing on the cake.

OMG, blondeblurr in the house? Another old nemesis of mine. But I digress. Cool depth of focus and tons of elements in this wonderful Chicagoesque capture of very dark upon dark, Mark, punctuated by a high contrast tunnel of light at the left of the image. The woman, possibly emerging from her vehicle, or perhaps caught in the act of stealing it, appears rather surprised and nonplussed at this sudden development. In any event, nice colors and contrast on the left, splendid gothic patterns and textures on the right, my friend. Nothing like this in my arid neck of the woods.

I love the perspective you got here--the trees frame the other side of the foto and the young woman's expression is just priceless. Then I went back and looked again, and noticed the building on the right--dang that thing is just THERE and adds such a compelling feel to the whole shot. Super stuff!!

Fabulously funny moment! That building and the tree together make a cavelike feeling, aplace of security and protection. The beauty of your neighbourhood contradicts my preconceptions of the city time and again.

OH Yes, you had me laughing too. I am sorry, but the first I thought of, was the surprised expression of the ladys face, as if you cought her in a ladys room :) I have been looking a long time on this and came to same conclusion as blondeblurr. It is a sliding door. But I totally forgot to look at all the rest of the picture. And of course I now see the beautiful and typical Chicago fences and little gardens that are so fascinating me, every time I see them. Have you got someting over there about trees. Are they holy or something. They grow everywhere. Even in a tiny stamp-sized garden, there is two large trees. I do love it but it would not happen very much in DK. Well, the people wont need a emergency exit stairway. They can just climb down the tree LOL ! So much to enjoy seeing here, Superb shot as always. :-D
