Description

We've had a mice invasion this summer. Not that they're running all over the place, but they were nibbling at the bird food bags. That's how I first spotted them in my husband's office last August. We put traps out, caught 5. Now just the other day I hear mousie sounds from behind the supplies I keep for mailing off ceramics when I sell some. Yesterday I decided to see what they had been up to. Now I want to decimate them. They've been nibbling on the old poetry and short stories I've got stored on the bottom shelves of a bookcase. My old photos and negatives were also stored there, but luckily they weren't nibbled on. As I was going through the shelves and cleaning up, I found an old contact print of the very first pictures I took when I bought my first 'real' camera, a Konica FP-1 Program in 1982. On the way home from the store we had to stop at a junkyard so my first husband could pick up some car part. What a Disneyland for a photographer with her first SLR. This one is actually the 2nd picture I took with my new camera. I scanned the contact print at 2400 DPI and did some more postwork on--mostly removing spots and blotches. It wasn't mouse-sampled, but it had been sitting around uncovered for a long time. A bit of adjustments then and here's the results. I hope you like it. Thank you for taking the time to look at my photography. I do appreciate it.

Scrapyards do make wonderful photographic subjects. There is a certain sadness to them - all these vehicles were once someone's pride and joy and now they are just heaps of forgotten, rusting junk. Super shot. :-)
