Description

Blaze and I are having a disagreement about what qualifies as an "improvement." I think my aversion to V3 is due to the years of her being all I ever saw. Enough time has passed now that she's worth another look. V3 Standard polygons: 74,510. V3RR polygons: 24,406. One third of the polygons! Can you tell? A good percentage of these are removed from the face. I'd say that they did I good job on her. Sure, at first I scoffed at V3 Reduced Resolution, but then I actually tried her. Note that she can use 99%+ of V3 clothes, hair, and texture maps, but not any custom third party morphs (other than the dial-spinning ones). The good news is that V3 content is still extremely common and available. Unlike the standard V3, V3RR comes with all morphs loaded. I would say that if she's wearing clothes, there's really no reason to go high-resolution on things that won't show. She could also make a good background character for a crowd scene. Plus, V3RR's preloaded morphs might be a good way to experiment with what you want before injecting your choices into the standard V3. Now, here's the deal: check out DAZ for a product named "3D Starter Pack." It includes V3RR, Michael 3RR, a couple outfits and hairstyles, some animals, and more, for $15 USD. I have a nagging feeling that most of this was included in a much older version of DAZ Studio, but no longer. If you don't have this pack and want to give RR people a try, this is the way to go. About this picture: maybe a "smooth shorty" isn't what you're after, but here's the morphs that V3RR is using in this image, which brings her fairly close to Blaze. Pear Figure 0.3 BreastSize4 0.65 ArmsHeavy 0.15 StretchLegs -0.25 StretchNeck -0.2 Body Scale 94% Head/Left Eye/Right Eye Scale 112% By the way, she's wearing "V3 Sophisticate" with "Madelyne Hair." It's all just something to ponder. Happy experimenting!

My dear MrGorf - THANKS for the dedi and the laugh. I REALLY needed it! Notably, my dear little Blackie passed on to rattie heaven this morning. I've just come in from burying him, and, yes, this silly old T.Rex cried. 2 1/2 years is a good life span for a domestic rattie. And a long friendship, too. I'll miss him jumping up and sticking his nose out between the cage bars as soon as I enter the bathroom or open the apartment door. Intelligent little fellow he was. Now to your post - I really like it. V3 really looks good with the new proportions. She also renders faster (less of all these BLIN, SSS and other stuff which causes my computer to crawl or to crash). And you can render several in a scene. And, you can tell V3 it's OK to come to my place for dinner as long as she's fully dressed (cloth sticks in my teeth, give me indigestion and constipation). With Blackie gone, I have nobody to share my pizza or Philadelphia Cream Cheese with (Blackies favorites). Keep up the good work. I'm already looking forward to your next post. And tell Blaze she needn't worry about "same proportions" (just don't mention her butt is fatter! Oops! There, I spilled the beans!). And thanks for mentioning where to get V3RR! Maybe the beginning of a V3 revival? :-)

So sorry to hear about your little pal. Losing a pet can be pretty rough. At least you had a lot of good times together.

great job! Tell me, where can I find "Blaze"? I am in a very small minority that did not like the look of v4's face, and thought genesis lacked detail in the face- so I never adopted anything else. I think the new genesis2 versions are very nice but they are far too expensive for me.

Blaze is a character I made based on the Genesis 2 Female. You can find her complete formula in my previous post. If you are interested in G2F, I would suggest getting only the basic head and body morphs and Victoria 6. The other G2F characters are "highly optional." See if you can catch a sale. If V4's face isn't quite "right" to you but you like the abundance of content available for her, consider the Stephanie 4 package, which makes her look a lot more believable. Or just stick with V3!
