Description

The hydrangea is a photograph of a needlepoint piece I did several years ago, and the daffodil is another of my old paintings. Have I mentioned how much fun I'm having with this? :)

I glad you are having so much fun. As long as it keeps you out of trouble. This is a lovely composition and a very creative idea to combine painting with needlepoint.

Finally, someone has repaired the reputation of the poor maligned F. This letter has taken a beating in our school system for many years! Enough of that. It is very cold here, 16 degrees this morning. With the wind it feels like 5. The beautiful colors here bring a welcome touch of spring. I also like the texture of the needle point background. I am glad you are having so much fun with this project. As for the needlepoint let's just say I don't do that. I do however, really admire anyone with that much patience.

I love the comments. Someone even referred to the "maligned F". (From that horror of horrors, "the F word".) But wow---you have 3 of your arts here---needlepoint, the beautiful daffodil painting (painting! great to see that here again), and your montage and blend skills. The needlepoint is a delight, Tara, and it makes a beautiful backdrop to the piece. The painting---I'd love to see the original! It blooms out into bold bright edges, with very painterly strokes. (It has a strong oil feel to it, whether physical or digital.) And on top of it---a big beautiful calligraphic F! And you're driving me batty with this flower pattern on the edge: Is that the stamen-region of a flower? Is it some fiberglass thing, where we're seeing the edges? Is it an eyeball postworked to look like a huge insect? Whatever it is, it has been imparting firework patterns throughout this series, a fine use of blend. And it also gives a purple and (lower) amber/orange tint to the needlepoint. And the color for F sets off the yellow vibrantly. Beautiful, Tara. A lovely installment in this lush and intimate series. (Helle's on M, you know that, right? She's on M...SHOWOFF!!! There should be an RR squad who calls her and says "HEY, SLOW DOWN! YOU'RE MAKING EVERYONE ELSE LOOK BAD!!! POOR ANDREA HASN'T EVEN LEFT 'A'!!!") Another beautiful entry.

Really lovely work, it has a very old-fashioned feel to it, probably due to the needlepoint background. I love it! As far as that border, maybe it's my long years as an embryologist but I'm seeing eggs and sperm...

Your whole alphabet is a wonderful series, Tara! and I fall from one surprise to another, so exciting and diverse to see/discover. I can feel your fun through the uploads, and I know Helle and Andrea are so happy doing so, by this fantastic challenge. You all can be very proud.
