Description

Made this yesterday late afternoon with graphite, charcoal and white calc pastel. I saw a video tutorial on youtube and thought I would try to follow it, just to see if I could. Sometimes I am my own challenger :) Wish you all a beautiful day. They promised we would see the sun today. I am still looking forward to that. :-P Tank you all for your kind comments to my previous uploads :-)

Well done, very well done! Which reminds me, I have a real crystal ball and I haven't put it in front of my camera yet...

as you know by now, I think this is beautiful, and such a fine use of your medium. The charcoal makes me shudder---not your USE of it, but just that anyone could use the stuff: To me, it's like trying to draw a fine-line drawing with butter---it just slides all over the place, worse than soft pastels. Yet, you used it with such strength here, for such strong accent (and maybe also for some of the grays inside the ball). Your light is so simple but so expressive. And you have real complexity in the light as it's reflected in the ball's shadow. Just beautiful, Helle.
