Description

This one is based on a painting I did a few years ago that was entitled "Ode to Joy." A chunk of colored glass and a jet engine were added to jazz it up a little bit. :P .................... Over the course of this series so far, some questions have come up that I thought I would answer for you. If you didn't have any questions, you can skip this part. :P - The letters are all fonts. None are hand done. I have a lot of fonts from which to choose, and I go through them one at a time to see which one I think fits the mood of the piece best. - Everything in the series has been done with layers in Photoshop CS5. Each piece so far contains between two and eight or nine layers with layer masks, blending, and/or opacity adjustments. - All the images are already in my gallery. So far I haven't created any new paintings or photographs in order to make these pieces. - The borders are just another layer, made with colors and brushes. - That thing that keeps showing up is a brush. You know that thing. It looks like fireworks, or a flower, or a fractal, or loads of sperm approaching an egg, if you're an embryologist. I first used the brush on D, and have used it in everything since then to create continuity between the pieces. The one everyone seems to notice most is in the DP Brushes in CS5. .................... SO glad you're enjoying these! :) I'm having a ball making them!

Thankyou for the information, Tara! I love the colours of this one, especially the vibrant orange on the letter.

Dee can relate to the "embryologist" reference, should take her back a while with fond memories. Speaking about fonts, I once heard Mordy Golding on an Adobe Illustrator training video, that he has a bumper sticker that reads "Whoever dies with the most fonts wins"

The Joy in this is well done. The colors here are very elegant. I would have never really thought of using layers to do anything like this. I have A lot to learn. Once again, you have made me smile.

...because, of course, if you want to jazz something up a little you put in a jet engine. ROFLMAO! This is another amazingly lovely piece!

Another delightful and beautiful work, Tara! Good to know there's something artistic and lovely to be created if one has a jet engine laying around in the basement! LOL Beautiful, my friend!

Lol, Mark: "I am beginning to think that you are serious about this." I assume you're ok about not zooming, but it hurts me that half the views are un-zoomed, because one misses a lot by viewing the display view (the one that's defaulted, before zooming). Either way it's beautiful, but in full, it's even more so...The purple is beautiful in all that green; it fades softly into it, it all has an underwater feel, to me. And it has bubbles and seaweed---though one can see other things too. Point is, everything is swaying and dancing, and whatever specific images you used---I can see several---are all melded into a big swaying harmonious dance. Your choice of orange for border and letter was wonderful: It frames and sets off the piece, and it's a joyous color in its own right. Instead of using images of overt "dancing for joy", you did a more inward joy here. Beautiful. Another beauty in this series.
