If I remember correctly there was a crossing point along that river just a few miles outside Jackson for the pioneers on the Oregon Trail ! There was also a quaint little church built by the settlers. Nice shot and vista Claude.

The view is great, but it's the eye behind it that makes this shot. You've caught and presented the background trees with a deep saturated green---dark green--which make a stunning contrast to the lighter greens and of course yellows of the foreground. It's beautiful, Claude. We expect clarity in the closest flowers, but the quilt or plush carpet of the slope behind them is also clear, and feels like a single piece of something---carpet maybe, throw, afghan. The lighter greens patch the background, and then the layered luminous-blue of the back mountains and then the near-total white of much of the sky give another stand-out contrasting layer, to complete the image. Beautiful work, it pops out in every layer. A big grand geological carpeted landscape. (Btw, the "challenge" of my last upload was stated as a tongue-in-cheek response to Helanker's original "alphabet" series, where she started to do playful montages with the letters of the alphabet. Just a challenge for her, ie to stretch her muscles and find new ways of exploring expression, collage, etc. I threatened to do an alphabet piece, in response ((I threatened as a joke, like "yeah??? wait till I get my hands on those little ___ers," as I never thought I'd go through with it)), and when I finally did, I called my pieces a "challenge," like they were a theme presented by the forum, or a gallery, etc. I think Tara continued the word in her whole series. and Andrea did one letter-piece, but I don't think she used "challenge". But that's why I used the word---it wasn't to challenge my viewers to figure out what was going on in that image, as that, I think, was pretty blatant---not the most subtle creation I've ever come up with ((which is why I almost didn't post it)). Letters are such challenges as subjects of art, so I figured the term fit, just an excuse to explore. And you got it all, lol, nothing missed in your interpretation...)
