Description

The colorful facade of our local multiplex - a style of architecture I would describe as Hollywood Kitsch. The deep blue cloudy sky seemed like the perfect backdrop for it... Please zoom.

Aside from the delightful novelty of the sight itself, this shot is a knockout. You couldn't have captured this style better if you tried. On the occasions where you shot these 40's, 50's and 60's facades, you've shown great understanding of how they "speak". Your hues are huge, the darks are in great contrast, the whole sits against a deep, deep blue sky (whose clouds also are set off by that deep blue), the angle lets those big "silos" hover over us like gigantic dayglo thermos's, the name "tinseltown" is white and clear as a bell---you 'get' these facades, as in you capture them like you freakin' designed them. A great shot to my eyes, the massing, angle, hues, impact, all of it: Dynamite. In zoom, it shoots off the page and dances in front of our eyes. You already know how I feel about your nature and landscape shots (I love them all); but when you put your eye to architecture and design, it's as if you'd been doing nothing but all these years. Love this shot! (PS---I'll get to your eyeland piece tomorrow. I'm nearing the end of this session, and I want to comment on that gallery when I'm fresh.)

it's almost impossible to add anything to what Mark has already said. This is outstanding! I love the crisp lines.

Yes, Mark nailed it, you OWN these shots. A perfect POV, a background that was made for it, and it's a winner. Kudos!!
