Description

On my trip into the American Southwest I used a GPS device for the first time. It worked like a champ. I only had one problem with it. When I tried to plot the way from Moab to Monument Valley the GPS could not find the location. There were no towns in the area. I finally had the GPS find the junction of two roads in the area which put me close to my destination. The place is literally in the middle of nowhere. I was rewarded for my efforts with my first sunset over Merrick Butte.

This looks very similar to Devil's Tower which is the core of an extinct volcano. Excellent landscape shot Mark.

We went by there, but decided we didn't have enough time to stop. It's a shame ... but we've discovered we can't do everything, and we can't take pictures of everything! LOL! We'll go back again and catch this later. What a fabulous place!
