Description
So, this blue jay, I think, is one of our most beautiful here. He was very busy, so getting the focus was not so easy. I have learned that the busy background is not helping. That, however, was not something I was able to convince the bird of. The seeds are here so he was NOT going to move elsewhere. I threatened to bring out the raccoons. He did not care. The seeds were here so that was that.

Yep, Blue Jays east of the Rockies, Stellar's Jays west of the Rockies - continental divide separates these two sister species. These are the bold guys, they don't even wait for me to walk away from my peanut feeder before they are in there for their morning feast. I'm at one end of the table, they're landing at the other. Stellar's are more shy.

What a beautiful bird - I've never seen this kind of blue jay before - the ones we have here are all a much darker blue. An outstanding shot...
