Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!Â
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper! Â
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

Nice work but not a pretty sight !!

Excellent results. They looked like some sort of menacing robots from a sci-fi movie from when I was young. Your creation reminds me of that.

Fine composition & creative postwork. I have a love hate relationship with electrical towers & power stations. On an abstract level, they are interesting structures & of course I enjoy the comforts of heat, light & all the other benefits of electricity, but I would hate to have these structures too close to where I live - both because they ruin the landscape & because of potential health effects. There is a small substation on my road, about a mile down from my house, but it's tucked away pretty unobtrusively...

A hideous but necessary item. It always intrigues me that in the beautiful countryside we have these things, but in a town we condescend to bury them under ground, surely the same can be done in the rural setting? But that is politics, and I have never seen any logic in that bunch of morons doing anything for anyone other than their own selfish needs. Turds the lot of them. hehe!

Why does this put me in mind of "War of the Worlds"? Nicely done manipulation. It looks like a line drawing.

Looks like a pencil drawing!!!

Great postwork on this photo - they look just somewhat less threatening that the Triffids, but not by much

I do like what you did here. It looks fantastic :-)

I know we probably dislike pylons but here you have created a piece if work which takes their line and it's very sculptural. An image we all know well and admire the guys who have to go up that high to repair them when need be.

Cool! Would work well with a railway junction too, me thinks.... Grey matter starts to stir......

Fantastic postwork. Looks really interesting.

I like it that there's "one in every crowd," even with pylons. LOVE the filter on this!

I love how abstracting the shapes takes them out of the realm of something seen daily to "wonderful outlines, look how the light catches the edges, why haven't I noticed these before?" Well done!

I like the filter and the resulting futuristic robots heading towards us!
