Description

I see the brush patterns in the border as lace drapes for the window. You might have missed that if I hadn't mentioned it. :P :D

When I was a boy TV stations played a lot of old black and white movies. There were kids in my neighborhood who believed the world was black and white until the 1950s. This brought back that memory. You are really good at this. I have to agree with the others, a superb series,

I really love this one too. The combination of black and white really works here. I know we now have wonderful insulated windows in wood, vinyl and other materials. They keep our house warm as well as cool. I just wish they had the character and charm of these beautiful old windows. I am going to be sorry to see this adventure of letters end.

(Since people are starting to say what a superb series this is, you know I'm gonna say "this is the worst series I've seen in 50 years!" Sorry, but I didn't wanna disappoint you, since you often point out my unbearably stupid sense of humor...But ok, to the image...) Such invention with that plain black and white fenestration as background. The black and white is pure basic window-stuff, it's a fine backing for the piece, on parade with those quoins all around them. And you know what---your brushes (which spill all over the background image) really do give fireworks or confetti to your background, like you're celebrating it. But what I really like is that your W sits on TOP of the brushes, so they stay with the background: Love the design thinking here. Your W is replete with a number of styles---I recognize Chicago, I think New Orleans, you have colored glass and patio glass, etc, and you took the roof line of that house on the right and you continued it as a "frame" throughout the top of the W: More clever design in this piece! And four of the W images are met with dark borders. Another fine piece of design. And when you mentioned the brushes as a drapery---I saw them! (And you've parted them, and made them the right dark color.) Tara, you're at W---in case you didn't know: You've bypassed Helle, who started this whole thing. I'm only at M. Andrea's at B. And you have all of X, Y and Z to go: And if you don't do something to CONTINUE this---I mean numbers, umlauts, percentage marks, multiplication signs (s___t, I'd take a quotation mark at this point)---I'm gonna die. 26 isn't enough for a series this beautiful. It's been a delight, and I can't bear to see it end!

I remember several of those windows - which reminds me....... wink Another lovely composite, Tara, and I love the border on this and all the others you've done. A super fun and creative series! Wonder what you'll do with X, Y, and Z! Can't wait to find out... :-D

I love the way this one is done. I spent quite a long, long time just soaking in the details and figuring out what's what...I love the layering and the mix of interior and exterior and yeah, the curtain-lace-frame pattern is brilliant. It looks like something Pavel's sister would have (kinda traditional, but definitely modern too, and not stiff and stodgy...and it goes a long way in disguising the fact that her sofa is Ikea standard: it's the kind of curtain pattern you'd see at a store called "This-n-That" on Vodičková Street, across the way from the one place that is an internet cafe/wine shop/hair salon. You can buy snazzy curtains across the street and then have your hair done while buying wine and checking email. So anyway, enough wandering down memory lane: back to this piece of brilliant work. It's such a simple idea, really...illustrating the alphabet, and yet you've worked wonders...I especially like the way there seem to be patterns within this image, and yet they're not rigid, and the whole mass of layers seems light and airy...rather window-like, with a breeze blowing through. And I love that balcony!
