Description
A bluejay sitting in the tree that's next to our bird feeder. We do a pretty good job of keeping him & his friends supplied with food year round, so why does he look so mad?
Please zoom.

What a beautiful bird, and what a beautiful photo! Maybe is angry because you're taking photos instead of filling the feeder LOL

I don't think he's mad, I think he's just drawn that way...they are such hyperactive birds, he's likely about to jump up and go off somewhere! Great shot!

I believe the stern look is a result of territorial imperative, as depicted in this excellent image of the bluejay and general soft ambiance.

Almost posed-looking, it has a classic pose about it, with the angled branch and his rather noble stance. His expression reminds me of old military portraits, where the man posing looked stern and foreboding. Maybe he fancies himself a stern foreboding bird who wants his grandchildren to respect him as he leaves his millions (of acorns and worms) to them. Or maybe he doesn't like your camera. (Maybe he only liked being photographed with Leicas.) Or maybe he hates RR. Well these are bad comedy bits I'm doing here, and they have nothing to do with you picture: It's a classic looking shot, I mean like it was posed in a studio, and it's most pleasing, and the background is a luscious slightly pink tan that sets off the bird and the rich ambered branch beautifully. A visually pleasurable shot.

He's probably thinking, "that yahoo is going to put my picture on the internet, I just know it!"
