Do you remember this guy? Nat King Cole was a first class afro-american jazzsinger with a very well-known bariton. He "maintained" his voice by smoking 3 packages of Coal-tar cigarettes per day. In the long run the "medicin" kills him in 1965 at the age of 48. It was in 1950 that he recorded Mona Lisa, a song written by Ray Evans and Jay Livingston for the film Captain Carey. The lyrics refer to Leonardo da Vinci's painting. In my image I tried to combine the smile of Mona Lisa with the so typical and extreme wide mouth and thick lips of Cole. Among them was Nat's daughter Natalie, who recorded old songs sung by her father. There were also rock versions (1959) by Conway Twitty, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Mann. All to find on You-tube.
