My name is Tara, and I was born and raised in Washington State.
Â
In 2010 I married Bill (bmac62) and retired ... two of the best choices I ever made! :)
Â
In March, 2013, we sold our home in Washington and went on the road in our RV full time. What a blast! There is so much world out there to see!
After traveling around the West for a few years, we got rid of the motorhome and are now spending winters in deep-south Texas and summers in Washington State. Spring and fall finds us visiting whichever place strikes our fancy at the time!

NICE SET OF BELLS...;)

Old telephones have a charm all of their own. This is a wonderful capture of one. I think we have lost much in this age of plastic digital devices, there just isn't a beauty of workmanship anymore.

Lovely. It has a romantic feel about it ...

I saw what Arthur saw too, hilarious! I also see her little maid's cap and some frilly undies. Oh dear.... It is also a tremendously emotive photo, and I love it..

Beautifully composed & lit trip back through time. That phone itself is such an ornate piece of antiquated technology (kind of Steampunk) & would have been a fine subject all on it's own, but combined with that intricately patterned wallpaper & the red velvet, it's a masterpiece of texture & atmospheric light & shadow. Outstanding...

Remarkable.... ISO 4000 and clean as can get as I see it. Beautiful. Too many house issues now for me to upgrade my gear. :(

Wow! You blow me away with what a master you are at lighting. This is so soft and delicate and very suggestive all at the same time, and it's a TELEPHONE, for gosh sakes! Well done!!!

Excellent.

What a lovely soft light and copper color. And 4000 ISO holds up very well. Crank the handle and shout into the phone "Hello Central!"

Very beautiful setting for this beauty.

I just woke up and saw this and had to tell you you've re-entered photography with a Bang---this is terrific, Tara! The shadow engulfs 1/3 the shot, and it's brought to light with deep reds and reddish-browns and orange-browns, which are so warm. They make the old phone---and chair, which is beautiful too---feel treasured, old and prized. Your angle, lighting, crop are all so intimate, like a peek into a private moment. And I like (with andrea) Arthur's comment! (Hey, phone, you got a GREAT pair of...) Terrific. And the wallpaper is just right as the backdrop: the color is what's needed to set off all those reds and browns. WOnderful work tara, welcome back once more, to the wonderful world of tara-photography...a beautiful aged shot.

My, long time since I saw one in real life - at an exhibit. This was in the age when you told the lady in the telephone exchange what number you wanted and she would stick a cable into the right hole to make the connection. I remember seeing the inside workings of this system at the exhibit I mentioned. As mentioned above, it does look somewhat like a maid. When I came to Sweden in 1978, I couldn't make direct overseas calls to the US. I had to go to the telephone office and they would make the connection whereupon I was told which booth to enter in order to take my call. That changed in the mid 1980s. Today, it's all digital. However, there's a company which makes replicas of old phones with all the modern digital parts hidden inside. Quite a cool idea, but NOT as old as the phone in your photo. Keep up the good work! :-)

Looks like a cartoon phone.

Amazing what a great light, atmosphere and mood this photo brings to my eyes. Everything I see here in this respect adds each other. A very beautiful picture again, dear friend.
