Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!Â
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper! Â
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

It is a very realistic effect, excellent choice for this detail yet diffused image!

Simply wonderful both the tree and the picture !!

Very nice work Andrea. I will try to take some more shots of my "Riesenschnauzer" but it is difficult to make a good one. Giants often have a black eye color. The eyes are also covered by black eyebrows. So you cannot see the eyes. This is also a reason why other dogs have a little respect.

Good post work with that wonderful tree.

It does look like a screen print (I was a silkscreen printer for a few years when I was much younger) & yes, Photoshop offers some amazing filter effects, but you still need to have the artistic sense to know what to do with them - & you clearly do...

A most lovely image. Very mysterious looking. Well done!

You mean you don't enjoy the masking, pushing ink through a screen and the clean up? Sounds like a fun weekend to me. This clean hands version is outstanding. The post work really brings out the shapes in this wonderful tree and turns the smoke into a foggy landscape.

It does look amazing!!

I love this effect! So amazingly beautiful. Of course it helps to start with a stunning shot, and you've got that!

Your poste work add so much to the mystery generated by the smoke!

Ditto Claude, I see so many filters, and they're effective, but only a true artist's eye can make an image like this. It's got layers---I mean 'visual' layers, ie going back in space, not "blending" per se---it's got many different greens, it's got a wonderful fan of branches and collisions with shapes behind them, and all those colonies of hue that you get in your edge filtering (or similar). It's really splendid. And the bright shoots at the very bottom make great accents to the whole.
