Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!Â
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper! Â
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

Fascinating capture. Breathing would be difficult in the immediate area.

wow; I like this too; stunning capture !!! isn't the gorse flowering yet ?? here they are blossomming
durleybeachbum
Yes the gorse is in flower, but what is being cut down here is very old leggy stuff and not a good habitat (except for spiders)

Such a lovely pic Andrea,
kaward
A TOP CLASS capture! The action seems very intense amongst the swirling smoke! I know they cut the leggy stuff down. I thought all those hiding spiders is the only food for the Dartford warblers and Goldcrests through the winter!
durleybeachbum
They leave plenty!

Great captures Andrea a bit smoky but interesting

Wonderful shot of the smoke - it almost looks like a battlefield shot. And I like the silhouettes of the crew...

A smelly old job and I too like the silhouettes.
Adobe_One_Kenobi
I bet the smell was lovely, I like the smell of burning clippings/leaves etc. I'd have bout some sausages along :) I remember going there with you and honey and the dogs on my birthday 2009, we shot the webs.

Fantastic color of the smoke and sky. And the silhouettes give this an epic feel. I like the fellow on the right pointing up. Is that your tree on the left?
emmecielle
It's truly spectacular! :)

Excellent captures!!!

A really beautiful shot of gorse burning.

Great shots, this one I really like with the smoke billowing up and around, and the stances of the people. They do this gorse burning here in the SW too, it's a very important process.
MrsRatbag
Wonderful intensity and colour, I love it too!
danapommet
I like the billowing smoke and I liked both photos. Did it smoke bother your fur kids?
CarWash-the-Cat
Looks a bit like a zombie apocalypse, expect them to stager towards me out of the smoke "BRAINSSS!!!!"

What nice colors in the smoke! Glad you were there! :)

Awesome smoky capture, love it!

in zoom it becomes a billowing shot---the central billow is very dramatic. The people---some engulfed in the smoke, some silhouettes in front of it---add punctuations to the big billows. And the light on the right is wonderful---quite intense. A very rich shot, Andrea, and expressive too. I wonder if you were inundated by the odors (a big fire can create odors for miles). Real color variations too, in the smoke and sky.
