I see the woodgrain at the heart of this painting; and I see the spirit expanding outward and thinning as it grows...what beautiful work this is, Mark!

Beautiful, Mark - I love the gel-like transparency effects combined with the contour map swirls. I get more of an undersea scene feel from it then a tree feel though - but that's what's liberating about abstract art, isn't it? We all see different things in it...

I can visualise the 'Genie out of the bottle' - and you set her spirit set free - (maybe you popped the cork accidentally ?) and now she is floating above, all dressed up in a blue Harem costume ;P oh, and the transparent bottle has actually a handle, it's clear as anything - I wonder if anyone else can see it ? your bright colours and textures are always so joyful, thanks for cheering me up ;)) BB *** (read more: Christina Aguilera - Genie In A Bottle Lyrics) I feel like I've been locked up tight For a century of lonely nights Waiting for someone to release me ...

Nice work.

In American Indian lore, it was believed that trees contained spirits within them. Now this image is most imposing, what with layer upon layer of various colors, patterns and textures, most of them darkly eerie in a colorful Faustian manner, Mark. I'm sure Edgar Allan Poe would have loved it. Art-wise, a scene marvelous in all respects, a creation that should be framed and placed in the Smithsonian, Prado or Louvre.

I fancy I see it moving, slowly easing out of the tree and then retracting to safety. Very beautiful indeed!

It seems you are giving the tree its own spirit back again from the bottle. Have you been capturing it before? I am glad you let it free now and it seems the tree is happy now and pays you back by giving you all the wonderful colors. I believe you have used one of your earlier traditional drawings for this image. I think i recognize it :-) What a gorgeous piece of art, Mark. Love it. I really do.

Marvelous creation once again.

This tree has a very imaginative inner fantasy life, with its spirit growing and exploring and evolving in an alternate Universe.I also see other spirits interacting with this tree. I've always felt trees had very wise spirits, from growing for so many years and experiencing so many things. They are the survivors, bending this way and that with the winds of change and time. This is that kind of tree, rooted, strong, and very alive in spirit.

Mark, this is truly an amazing presentation that you so masterfully created. The feel and flow of this image is amazing and it's easy to see why you chose Tree Spirit as the title. The most I reflect this does indeed remind me a bit of the magical aura surrounding trees and foliage in the Avatar movie.

Full view gives me the feeling that I'm falling into this. There seem to be so many layers, like transparent fabric floating in a light breeze. This is beautiful!

Living around redwoods makes me love and appreciate trees everywhere. Seeing this pulls me in and gives me the feeling of being there. So much going on and yet in a simple way; does that even make sense??
