Hi, I'm Marilyn. Â I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile. Â It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here. Â I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends. Â Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time. Â Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!! Â Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet. Â You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long. Â Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

Nice shot,

This is a formidable in-your-face shot of a big slab of striated rock. Andrea says it's basalt, which I wouldn't have known; but the composition shows it like a big spew of rock all piled in a heap, like some big rock-god spilled it out and said, "bingo! Now you have a mountain!" Most impressive capture, cropped to be a huge chunk of nature just sitting there, un-budging. I really like the feel of this shot! And it's a big spill for Corey, to whom I say, once more, Happy Birthday and Many More, Corey!!! (What do I do with "basalt"? "May your year be filled with basalt!!!" Nope. Doesn't work! But "may your year spill over with beauty" works. Very nice dedi, Marilyn.)

What incredibly rocky goodness! I love those basalt domes...they almost don't look real! Great find and capture!

Wow! This is the biggest present anyone ever gave me! I don't blame you for not wrapping it. Might take me a minute to make space on my curio shelf, but this really is quite something. Thank you!
