Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper!
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

A very nice set up Andrea.

Such a beautifully set up and captured still life. I can't believe anyone would ever pay such an amount for 1 oz of perfume. At that price you should get a 45 gallon drum of the stuff.

Nicely done Andrea, great set-up.

You have done an amazing job on this, the reflections don't act as a self portrait! In fact it has tons of highlights. Very pretty shot and compo too!

Wise woman. On my visit to Egypt in 1982 I was educated on how perfume is made and what goes into it. Back then there were great fields of flowers and herbs growing on the west bank of the Nile. The oils were harvested from the plants and sent to Europe where they were mixed with alcohol for the perfume trade. My mother's favorite at the time was Arpège and I bought a four once bottle of the oil for about $5 US in Cairo. But I digress. This is a perfect rose and beautifully captured. The colors are brilliant. I like how the orange of the surface and the pink rose on the bottle are also found in the rose.

What a lovely bottle and the rose is from your gaden, I assume :-) Beautiful shot.

A very delicate shot. The flickr version is warmer, while this is more delicate, and I like them equally. Given the rare quality of the bottle (and its contents), you captured it very fittingly with that beautiful furled rose and your spare foreground and background. You have a way with capturing a few objects beautifully, in harmony with their nature. I love the hue of the ground; and the gray background sets it off well. A perfect little vision, and more terrific perfume work from you, Andrea. I just love this series. Btw, I appreciate Mark's comments. I know that perfume is a rare and old art. In India, there's a valley of flowers whose scent is so powerful, people actually get high from walking through it. They hallucinate. Just another example of how powerful flowers are, as nature's most sensual allure...
