Description

Captured 12/25/12, early morning, in a materials depot adjacent to the local I-5 Freeway widening project, not far from home. The original, as usual, on top. Considering that the soil was already hard, the heavy equipment absolutely pulverized the surface as its tank treads rolled over it. Have a nice day.

Another feast for my eyes, full of texture and light; tread designs are fascinating, aren't they? I love your variations, this bunch is particularly entrancing. Well done Harry!

Zoom is essential for detail and grit: A terrific capture of treadmarks, Harry. The textures and grit and harsh light and shadows are first rate. As is the angle. Do you know how many times I've tried shots like these, and came up with dreck? I can't get a handle on these, I just can't; but few do. You have a whole series of these, and I just love their grit and angles and light/shadow. The black and white, btw, has very 'molecular' tones---esp in the ridges at top (and in the sandier parts of the tread). The 3d is a closeup of some biological tissue sample---eerily organic, and I like the color contrasts (oranges, blues, crimson browns...) And the last is another of your mirror images at the end a sequence: this one a jaundiced alien planet. And the mirror image suits the grit and treads beautifully. If you start with a fine original, the variations will follow. A scintilating capture of process right before our eyes.
