Hi, I'm Marilyn. Â I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile. Â It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here. Â I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends. Â Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time. Â Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!! Â Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet. Â You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long. Â Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

Forks is a sort of funny place. Nice to see you had some "classic" Forks weather! :)

In the Psycho movie, there was a big house atop a hill behind the Bates Motel, where all of the scary action really took place. Norman Bates was always arguing with his mother in the house. In fact, people died up there. Also, there was a sequel to that film, starring Anthony Perkins. And, I hope you didn't take a shower in the motel. In any event, I love the POV and general spooky ambience of the whole scene.

I have stayed in untold numbers of places like this; they have a particular feel (and smell) that says "on the road". They are much more fun than the more modern big chain motels! Wonderful capture!

Tara commented on the Washington weather. It's apparent here: dark, murky, foggy, nostalgic blue---with a surprisingly bright patch of sky above. If you were going for a scary dingy look with the motel, you achieved it beautifully. The place looks a lot like the Bates, or like any number of other motels that whisper "danger...." I like the deep darkness on the buildings, while the light is all in the sky. Nice contrast. And I like that the sign is dark too. This must be a very primal area. Very finely done. (Btw, is the building across the street called "Spoons Motel"? Is the one down the street "Knives"? How about "Cups Motel"? ((the cup ran off with the spoon...)) Just some cheap humor to bring down the proceedings...)
