Description

A while back I posted one of my recent experiments in making an asteroid and/or comet in Bryce. I've consistently been frustrated by the limitations Bryce has for such things, and grumbled about this in the post. Geirla came to my rescue, suggesting that I try out a program called "Sculptris" which is by the same people who make zBrush, and after trying it out I have to say I'm definitely liking what I see. This is my first foray into it, and I'm nowhere near being an expert (or competent for that matter) but I can see all kinds of potential. Thanks for the advice my friend, this is going to make my stuff even more fun to do! Details: Ship models were made entirely in Bryce from primitives, and are my own creations. I've used them lots of times before, but needed something to add without spending too much time on it, so please forgive the recycling of existing models. The asteroids were shaped in Sculptris, then textured in Bryce. Textures are entirely my own, (and need a good deal more work, I admit) thanks for checking this out, and for any comments you care to leave!

Fantastic work on this, Mike! Looks like you're going to get along very well with Sculptris... I've heard of it, but never looked into it..... I may have to take a look. Looking forward to seeing what you do with it, along with your expertise in Bryce.

I'm really impressed, and I've only scratched the surface of it. Modeling tools are very intuitive, and it doesn't seem to tax my system resources as much as you'd expect, too. It's definitely worth checking out.

Actually, it was me that suggested it, but that is not important, what is is that you have got some great use out of it already...great asteroids, and cool ship models too!!

Oops, sorry about that. I have no idea how I got that switched. but I do really appreciate it because it's amazing the potential I can see there.
