A beautiful Abbey, a real old classic coming alive in colour - so much more memorable than B&W, in my opinion ... and what a great thought from 'alanwilliams' to crop the sky - it's perfect now ! - so 'close up & personal' ;)) BB A prosperous, healthy and a safe 'New Year for 2015' and beyond, to you Jeff ! (so sad to read about the passing of Lou (Bossie_Boots)

in this case, the coloured version is absolutely better - didn't care if it was cropped or not.

Interesting change. The un-cropped sky immediately put the emphasis on the abbey. This version puts more emphasis on the foreground and the perspective leads the eye to the abbey although the shrubbery still looks like its made of stone. I think the change makes for a better image. Really nice work.

I think this is an excellent version; I agree that the crop brings focus to the abbey. All in all really excellent detail and composition!
