Beautiful picture. Sad that such a wonderful old house doesn't have a family.

Oooh, I like this! As it's freezing cold in Chicago, a nice wood stove would come in nicely, despite the already comfy warmth of the new apartment I'm living in. I love the cabinet beside it also. The colors are superb, and I love the textures and hints of textures. Aren't abandoned houses/buildings absolutely haunting? I know some UrbEx people who'd be drooling all over this photo and I also have to say that I love the peeling, dead, post-useful floor tiles. The mottled blue makes a wonderful, moody, haunting compliment. This is great! You give it such a mood...like you're reaching back in time and photographing the comfy bits of house-history while keeping your camera trained on the present. Don't you just love it when that happens?

A superb capture of abandonment and decay. The subdued light provides just the right atmosphere. It looks like the people just packed their bags and walked out.

This is a gorgeous stove; too big for my house, but sure would be warm. Your capture of it is wonderful!!

The atmosphere is so welcoming, it seems quite wrong that no one lives here. I would like that cupboard, it matches the ones I house my perfume collection in.

They didnt care so much about scurity at that time, did they? Letting the wooden cabinet standing so close to the stove. Excellent shot indeed.

I love this - so many stories buried away here. I'm holding my hands up to my monitor.... It's bloody cold here! A lovely photo, Tara! The place almost looks liveable with a little cleaning and TLC...

With Claude, I wouldn't want to live there, but I love the photo too. The light may be already-in the photo, but you've worked with it, I presume, as you do with many of your photos. The light on the stove only makes the shadow on the cabinet all the more pronounced: We're taken into the room via that lit-up stove, but then shown a deep dark interior beyond it: very private-feeling. More of that "intimate" feeling I often feel in your work. You've brought out the reds in the cabinet sweetly, as well as the light on the shaft of the stove. And in the far right? A sliver of a door, intimating a new chamber we don't get to see---where there must be light, because the door is lit-up by it. A fine touch as a cutoff point for the shot: Intimation of things beyond our view...An intimate, old-feeling, creaky capture, feeling inviting and inhibiting at the same time, like we're invited, but only so far---the rest remains buried in history. Your usually fine use of light and shadow: You do these interior shots beautifully.

What an interesting discovery you made there in Bodie, dear friend! What an inventory one have left behind, so sin actually. Just like you, you know I love this old stuff. Have you tried to make a can of coffee inside, Tara? If I were with you, I would have look for Chicory, and do it. Cheers, Tara-friend!
