Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper!
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

Excellent work. I think I've mentioned this before but your 'doodles' have a wonderful quality to them that begs to be animated. With the water rippling in the pool, I can see some of your large footed characters standing at the entrance with cameras and sketch pads nattering to each other before moving on to their tour of the Uffizi.

A doodle is a six-legged spider in a bow tie with a top hat and a silly grin. When I see something like this I never think "doodle." This might not be what you would consider to be a finished piece or whatever, but it's far more than a doodle, in my mind at least. It's marvelous! A bit reality, a bit fantasy, and enough detail to keep me busy looking for a good long time!

This is a mighty great drawing. I love the 3D look you gave it. And actually, I like this version best. Nothing to disturb the details and depth and shades.

Megadoodle!! That's one seriously well constructed place! No wonder you enjoy doodling, your mind takes you to so many unusual places!

Awesome work!

Interesting details. I like to think of such drawings as a thought process. The coloured version opens it up nicely and adds depth.

I'm jumping back a ways, because I'm over an hour and wanted to do at least one image from a month ago, before I leave for now. I like the color and original equally, though the original lets us see your line work all by itself, which is a treat. Yes, with Peter (e-brink), these are like thought process: Many masters did sketches to be just that---thinking through the sights around them. But they're also works in their own right, something that big paintings tend to overshadow and even eradicate in the minds of the viewer... Not an easy subject, because of the front wall and the villa behind: Yet we feel the two sections here, clearly. And you used strong shading around edges (where appropriate) making it dramatic; and the squiggles in the front wall/gate are delightful, as are the freehand arches in back and the stones in general. A real freehand interpretation of architecture and its space, fun and intense; and while I like the color, I agree with Helle that the b-and-w allows us to feel the drawing by itself. Your architectural drawings have the same dance-and-play that you put into your figure drawing; and you seem to be having a lot of fun playing with these forms, and capturing them in the limited time one has for a sketch. Playful and dancing, I love when you post your drawings.
