Description
Goulding’s is more than just a museum. There is a lodge, restaurant, laundromat, gas station and grocery store where you can buy a variety of goods including frozen dinners. On the day of the dust storm I was sitting in my room reading my book and eating some microwaved Swedish meatballs.
The problem with doors is that when you open them the neighborhood flies think it’s an invitation to come for a visit. So it was that, while eating my meatballs, I had to periodically shoo away the flies. I could have smacked them with my book but then I would have had to clean the book and the table. Besides, when I travel away from home I try not to harm the local fauna. After all, it’s their home, not mine.
Since I had a day of imposed leisure I decided to make a game of it and see if I couldn’t get rid of them without resorting to violence. There was some gravy residue in my frozen meal container. I set it aside and waited. It didn’t take long for the flies to come and investigate the remains. I watched as they tumbled over each other, fighting for the best bits. Once they had settled in to feed and were pre-occupied, I oh so carefully lifted the container, placed it in my left hand and gently walked over to the door and opened it, tapped the container and watched them fly away. I didn’t get them all on the first try, however.
It seems one was more interested in seeing what I was reading.

Well, if you can't get rid of 'em, photography is the next best choice! Although in this case, maybe it should have been your first pick. This is terrific! The depth of field is outstanding.
