Description
Just working out my workflow, ironing out the details of getting assets from Carrara to zBrush to Keyshot. This was mostly about getting a decent skin texture that works in many lighting environments. Not perfect, but getting much closer.
Tried out zBrush's FiberMesh to do the hair. My first impression, based on the manual and example tutorials, was that it would work fine for shag carpet and comic renders. Then I saw some amazing work done in some back issues of cg-artist and decided to give it a try.
The hair shader's just a quick'n'dirty one but the fibermesh system is awesome. You work with it just like any other geometry so all the zbrushes work on it. Hair goes where you want it to and not in unpredictable tangents!
Of course, the fact it originates in zbrush means mega-polygons. (This image is just a V4 with hair and a bracelet and clocked in at 12 million+ polys!) Next on my To-Do list is get a decent hair shader and see how low I can take the poly count on figures and still get a smooth render.
All in all, I'm really happy the workflow and the results are coming closer to what I imagine all the time. Lot's of fun, too!

The light is all HDRI. The character is MRL-Elena by Mihrelle. Looks a bit familiar-- almost like... Nah. ;]

Excellent image with beautiful lighting! The hair and skin look quite natural, but I'm sure they can be perfected! The bracelet looks very good, and is the little detail that enhances the image a lot! I look forward to see your workflow ironed-out for some stunning renders!
