Description

So I've spend nearly all of my creative free time writing and not doing art. But since I might go the self-publish route, after two years of publisher rejections, I'll need my own cover. So here is my attempt. Please let me know what you think. No story as such, but here is a partial blurb from a query letter. ---- It is the twenty-sixth century. Mars and Venus are terraformed; Earth is an irrelevant backwater. When the Martian Empire and the Asteroid Belt Confederation go to war, Earthborn Lieutenant Commander Walker Tsume receives command of the Martian corvette Odin and a barely qualified crew. Walker has had a mixed career. His superiors consider him brilliant but undisciplined. Modifying his ship's systems in defiance of orders, Walker leads Odin and its crew on a perilous mission to Jupiter's moons. They uncover corruption in military datastreams and treason within the Imperial Martian Navy. When the Battle of Jupiter begins, only Odin can prevent defeat and the stop the traitors' escape. Deep in the atmosphere of Jupiter itself, the final confrontation plays out as Walker must face his greatest fear -- losing a ship and crew to Jupiter for a second time.

I like it a lot. I have a hobby of designing book covers (at least the front-piece images) and I have to say that I'm really glad to see that someone else does the same thing. Sometimes just making an image inspires a story and I like the retro look of this one: great work, great ship. I like this a lot and the story sounds exciting.

I really like your ideas, both for the cover and for the story. I especially like how that nearby object's appearance reminds me of the comet that the Rosetta Probe has been circling. Very nicely done!

I had to double check to make sure I read the ebot notification that you had posted an image...man, it;s good to see something new from you after all this time! Really like the retro ship design, and I agree with Nefarious, the first thing that came to mind was the comet in the news recently when I saw the ogject(asteroid?) above the ship. Nice use of the photo of Jupiter too!
