Description

The American white ibis is one of 28 species of Ibis - a group of long-legged wading birds. There are also 2 extinct species. They all have long, down curved bills, and usually feed in large groups, probing mud for food items, usually crustaceans. Most species nest in trees, often with spoonbills or herons. They average 25 inches (64 cm) long with a wing span of 38 inches (97 cm). In our area they spend hours poking into our lawn coming up with worms and grubs. Some info from Wikipedia and my bird books. Thanks for stopping by, taking a look and for all your previous favs and comments. They are very much appreciated. Dana
