I love what you did here; the ice looks like chocolate! People wouldn't complain about it so much if that were the case. I love the light...great work, my friend!

The low lighting brings this other worldly scene to full capacity with its deeply shadowed patterns and textural effects; a remarkable capture easily suggestive of semi melted chocolate, Mark. Hard to believe only two megapixels accomplished this memorable sepia-like masterpiece.

Mark, this is yet another amazing capture on your part and I must admit to quickly becoming a fan of the lake ice photos you share with us. Maybe it's because there is nothing like this near me and I'm fascinated by not only the wonderful textures throughout, but also the lighting and shadows on display.

Very cool. To me it looks like sand that has had water running through it, then dried up.

I agree that it looks a lot like chocolate - maybe cake frosting? But those high contrast ridges also have a kind of otherworldly or sci-fi quality, like a desolate snow covered planet. I like the fantasy feel it has...

I am continually amazed by "cold." You show us what it looks like, and it's hard to get my brain around the idea! I mean ... that's seriously cold. Ice like that means it's been cold for a while ... longer than I've EVER been cold! I've lived with "chilly" a lot, but never that bone-chilling cold. Nippy. Damp. Brrrrr. But whoa ... not like it must be there!! This is a great shot for its composition and mood, but even moreso for what it says about your environment. A wonderful image!

I especially love the contrasts between the different textures and the patterns that you achieved here. The brownish color makes it unreal . It is an impressive abstraction and another facet of your iced lake. This Light is fabulous and the details are impressive... excellent photograph of a 'fantastic' vista.
