Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper!
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

Looks like plenty of creative fun being had there, I have used Daler-Rowney System 3 acrylic paints in the past with some of my non digital work, I think they are a good balance between quality and price. I like acrylic paints because you can thin them and more or less use them like watercolours or thicken and use like oil paints and they don't take forever to dry like oils which means there is no delays when that creative spark takes place. The other day I had a heated discussion when somebody said it was nonsense that different coloured oil paints can have different drying times, not one to stretch an argument too long even when I know ignorance is not always bliss for some people. Great capture Andrea.

How ever do you find things here Andrea???? Lol. Its like the bottom of a baby's pram - all pee and broken biscuits !!!!

Lovely to see your work station, where all the creating is done!!

ROFL @ Jayfar That my dear jayfar is the work table of a very creative-minded person. And it seems to work very well indeed for her considering the multitude of beautiful works of art she has created. Thanks for sharing your workspace Andrea...I LOVE it!
moochagoo
Love that table. Excellent !

I look at my table at this moment and it bears a certain resemblance to yours but yours does have more purpose than mine!!

Organized chaos Jeff, you should have seen my desk at Rimmel I had my own filing system that went, pile number three 6th page down :) I think this is rather organized to be honest

Oh, I love this! The colors are stunning--so bright and vibrant and I love the different tools for different things...including two remotes. Good light in the work area too: back in the days when I typed stories on an "electronic" typewriter, good/natural light was always best. And is that Anabelle's hand I see? I'm sure she makes a good administrative assistant...oh but wait, for an artist, that would be artistic assistant? As I have yet to do any illuminated anythings, the illuminated D you're not overly pleased with is still light years ahead of mine. Oh, and the remotes are a great touch! When I'm all artsy and such, I need such things (for CDs and such, though I wish there was a remote control for things like beer/coffee/tea/nibbly-snacks.

This is actually pretty well organized with everything in easy reach. I am a little disappointed though. I was hoping for an easel with you in a smock and beret. And why is there a manikin standing over your work station?
MrsRatbag
Yes, I agree it looks well-organized. I'll bet you can put your hand right on whatever you want when you want it, and that's what counts!
danapommet
I will admit that it is well organized but I would need more room and shelving and............

this inspired some long comments! Well yeah, it's organized, but it still has that lived-in and scattered look that's required for artists of any worth. Great collection of stuff. And it's great to see the original artwork of the D piece, and something underneath it that looks wonderful. (On cloth? A wall hanging? A place mat? Something you designed, I assumed. I like it, whatever it is.) If you had a twisted-enough sense of humor, you could have included an auto-parts magazine, oe a magazine on polyvinyl seat coverings, or just some really raunchy porn. Shake up your audience...Or a machete. Or a stuffed alligator. Anyway, it's a fun composition, I assume you either moved some things or found the angle to make this another wonderful still life. I love the mannequin back there, and the array of indefinables all across the place. And you've really gotten into those paint cubes. (Watercolor tablets, I assume.) I like the pencils too. You could shake people up and drape some fine cashmere scarves across it, just to give some fans cardiac arrest ("on top of paints??? are you kidding me???"). From the pics Helle sends me of HER table, this is all correct. Terrific shot, I love it. (Btw, it'll make you happy to know that Ana finally tried pastels for the first time, and she too got powder all over herself and everything else. There's just no way to use pastels humanely. They're a vicious medium.)
