Description

First day of snow and the scenery began to change. It was an adjustment for me to drive in the snow - the first time in 5 years - since the last time I was here. The view of the mountains disappeared, some roads required chains, and some roads were closed due to avalanche danger. The roads in the village, not too wide to start with, became even narrower. The snow plows piled the snow on each side of the street and went around cars parked in the street, and over the course of six days of snowing, these cars became completely buried and invisible. It was explained to me that when two cars crept passed each other, one side often in the deep snow, the other side barely clearing the other car, if by chance the two cars touched, the moving car was at fault and liable for any damage. So passing each other was a very delicate, time consuming operation. This picture was taken on 26 December 2014, Sig...

Nice photo! Snow is lovely for pictures, but a pain in the bleep for driving. Going to get some more of that here tomorrow.

The snowy landscape is beautiful and charming, but it's very dangerous for those who find themselves in the snow! Excellent capture! :)

Yeah! Makes me laugh! Here in hopeless U.K. if a small flake of snow lands at Heathrow Airport, they close it! I am not joking mate.. Driving, well forget it! And trains? Leaves close lines! Stunning shot, good capture! Rob

A love the photo but not what you went through with all of that snow - it looks like a snowman (Schneemann) on the right!

@Danapommet: That's right Dana, that's a snowman or Schneemann; This was the first day of snow, and most of the tourists that come to Oberammergau and environs come for the snow, whether it is downhill or cross-country skiing. The non-skiers and kids build snowmen!
